Growing up, all of my girl friends loved roses, daisies, peonies, etc. I was the only weird one who seemed to like tulips. Okay, maybe even love. They actually took my breath away when I saw them growing in other people’s houses. How can you not like them? There are countless varieties and colors. They are great as cut flowers in vases or bouquets. Though they last only for a short while, they easily bring beauty to any garden.
I planted the tulip bulbs at the same time as the hyacinths, so they are in their second year now of blooming. This year, there weren’t as many flowers as I had hoped. But there were a whole lot of leaves. So not sure what I did wrong there. Nevertheless, tulips will always hold a special place in my heart and garden.
