At the end of each year, I set an overarching theme for the coming year. For 2016, that theme was perseverance. I felt directionless in a lot of ways. But even in my wandering, I didn’t want to lose my focus or my perspective on life. And in order to not lose faith or hope, I had to persevere through it. Now that it’s almost the end of 2016, I do believe God stretched me in many ways to persevere. Here are some of the memories from this year, and what I’ve learned.
I’m the type of person who enjoys celebrating all of the little things in life. I never had a lot of money growing up, so I enjoyed making cards and gifts for close friends for birthdays and other special occasions. When we got married in 2012, I knew that I wanted to celebrate the smaller moments, but also the big moments like our wedding anniversary. We got the idea from another married couple to take turns planning the anniversary trip. My husband is taking all of the odd years, and I’m taking the even years. This is year four, so it was my turn! We had some bonus credit card points, so we used them toward free airfare to San Francisco!
Lots of firsts here: first time in SF, first time using Uber, and first time staying at an Airbnb. This is a beautiful city with so many things to do, see, eat, and experience. Even though it was our first time, I have some helpful tips that you can use in the future! Continue reading
